STEP 1: HARVESTING THE CLAY

ClayDig

The clay is dug from approximately ten feet underground in Wayne, Maine.

We harvest enough clay for five to seven years during a clay dig. 


STEP TWO: CLEANING AND PREPARING THE CLAY

The clay is run through a pug mill twice to remove any sticks or stones, then processed through a de-airing pug mill to remove any locked air bubbles.


STEP 3: HAND-THROWING THE ClAY

The clay is weighed in 1-3 pound balls and hand thrown on the pottery wheel.
